Voorhees Pediatric Facility Volunteer Program

Volunteers at Voorhees Pediatric Facility fulfill a significant role in completing the circle of care provided to the children, adolescents, young adults and their families.  As part of the healthcare team, volunteers complement the care of the professional staff in assuring that the needs of residents, and families are met.  Volunteers provide services through a variety of programs spending quality time with the residents on a one on one basis or in a group setting. Whether it is reading a story to a child, doing homework or an art project with a teenager, or rocking a small infant to sleep, volunteers brighten the children’s days. Volunteers also provide needed assistance by performing clerical duties.

Diverse volunteer opportunities are available to choose from:

• Bancroft School
• Housekeeping
• Clerical Support
• Therapeutic Recreation/ Child Life Department
• The Medical Day Care at Voorhees Pediatric Facility

Volunteers at Voorhees Pediatric Facility must

• Be at least 14 years old
• Commit to a minimum of 2 hours/week.  Hours are available in the mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. 
• Commit to a minimum of 3 months.
• Complete the orientation program which includes health clearance, criminal background check and program policy/procedure review.

Donations
Donations to the facility are accepted through the Therapeutic Recreation/Child Life Department.  We welcome donations of toys, games, books, DVD’s, craft supplies, etc.  Monetary donations are also accepted, however we do not provide tax exemption.  Stuffed animals are unable to be accepted due to infection control reasons.  To receive our “wish list” or for additional information contact Lauren Waite at lwaite@forkidcare.com or call  856-821-8498.

Community Outreach
Community groups are a welcomed part of our recreation programming.  Visitors participate in providing a recreation activity to the children in a group setting.  We encourage civic, religious, scout, school and community service groups to visit the children.  Please contact Lauren Waite at lwaite@forkidcare.com or call  856-821-8498.
